Alan Menken does it again

Today, we watched Disney’s first CGI fairytale film, Rapunzel (or if you’re in the US, “Tangled“). This is actually the first film in a long while that I was really looking forward to seeing; if I missed this in the cinemas, I’m sure to regret it. Good thing that advanced bookings for movies is quite common in Singapore — and my sensibilities trumped my laziness. I will not let my 14++ SGD go to waste!

I love it!!! I love the wit, the humor, the magic… and the music! Alan Menken does it again!

If you don’t know him, you probably heard of his works. He wrote the music for most of the Disney princesses movies such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast — and winning a lot of Oscars along the way. Gosh, even just jotting down these titles gets me singing the tunes in my head.

I loved how the music for this particular movie is kind of pop-rock  — totally keeping in line with the fresh, modern treatment to a classic fairytale story. Walking out of the cinema hall, I was humming tunes from the movie. Can’t wait to get my hands on the soundtrack!
